How many times have you been told by so many agents that they are ‘NOT’ all the same? Well ok, like any businesses there are good ones and bad ones but estate agents have generally followed the same old tried and trusted High Street formula with the familiar hierarchy of Owner/Founder, directors, office managers, juniors etc.
But over the last few years in the UK, things are at last changing and eXp is leading the way and enabling experienced agents like me to break free of the corporate bonds and work the way we want to.
I have been an estate agent for over twenty five years. I still love what I do and Oxford is such a lovely place to do it! The umbilical chord link between owner and home. The stories behind the purchase and sale, the stories around the lives of the people I deal with is what keeps me in this amazing business. And now, working with eXp means I can focus entirely on you, my client!

Or perhaps, more politely put: One point of contact estate agency. You see, this is how it works. Whilst this business isn’t exactly rocket science, like many disciplines, you do need to know what you are doing and like your car mechanic who’s been doing the job like I’ve been doing mine – for over 25 years – we both very much know what we’re doing. And because of advances in technology, estate agents can work just as easily – if not better – by themselves rather than with a ‘sales team’.
So it will be ONLY me you deal with from our initial meeting right through to the completion of sale. I will be responsible for the marketing processes and the viewings. It will be me talking you through the offer process and negotiating with your potential purchasers and advising you on the best way forward.
Buyers will always try to beat you down on price and I will always be there to point them in the right direction – hopefully upwards! When the sale is agreed that is where your agent – me – will start to earn my fee. Monitoring the chain if you have one, making sure solicitors have the information they need and smoothing the way through to the completion.

Wait, no High Street Office? No Problem!
Whilst it is nice to have a High Street presence to display your brand name, the reality now is – buyers no longer need to trawl the high street talking to lots of agents about their listings. Why should they when they can register on Rightmove from the comfort of their own home and see everything that’s on the market?
Self-employed eXp agents like me can work wherever they can take a laptop! Whether that’s at home or Branca’s delicatessen on Walton Street where, incidentally, I can often be found.
And then there’s the fees you pay. Think about it, a large chunk of that money that goes on window cleaners, office cleaners, Saturday staff and company cars etc. It can now be spent – and this is important – on more powerful marketing to make YOUR home stand out from all the rest.

Oxford! What do you think of? Such an extraordinary City on so many levels. Cue images of the University and its ‘dreaming spires’. It’s central location within the UK, easily within reach of London – 50 minutes by train and the confusingly named ‘Oxford Tube’ regular bus service. And although totally landlocked, not only the River Thames runs straight through but also the canal system – so much water bringing so much activity; sailing, canoeing, rowing, punting and ‘wild swimming’! As an academic centre, there are some of the best academic schools in the country. Inspector Morse (of course), theatres, books – so many books – riverside pubs…. Oxford!
